The How to Prepare Employer Sponsored Visas (482, 186 494) Workshop is a 3 point CPD workshop that covers the basic requirements to prepare and lodge employer sponsored visas (482, 186 and 494). The workshop covers Sponsorship, Nomination and Visa application processes, criteria, and conditions as well as the changes to the 186/187 permanent sponsored subclasses and regional framework under subclass 494. This workshop includes new announced changes – CSOL – Skills in Demand Visa.
TOPICS COVERED:
- Updated current legislative and policy foundations for subclass 457/482 and 186/187 applications, including 1 July 2024 changes and transition from Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) Visa to ENS
- Application process and fees applicable
- Sponsorship requirements – including lawful and active operation, training and other requirements
- Nomination requirements – including relevant occupation, MLTSSL/STSOL and applicable caveats, SAF, associated entities, Labour Market Testing, Genuine Position Criteria
- Recent case law and departmental policy on Genuine Position assessment criteria
- Visa requirements – Skill requirements, English language requirements, Health and character requirements, other visa application requirements

- Subclass 494 Temporary Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa framework
The Workshop is intended to provide Registered Migration Agents (RMA professionals) and Lawyers with a solid foundation for the changes to the subclass 457/482, the 186/187, and subclass 494 frameworks and equip Agents and Immigration Lawyers with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate and advise on the application processes and respond to requests from the Department of Immigration.
Workshops will consist of discussion and case study analysis. There is no assessment component but participants will be given an opportunity to attempt simulated case studies based on real-life scenarios. Feedback will be provided during the session. These sessions are designed for newly registered RMAs and lawyers wanting to gain a basic understanding of the foundational requirements to meet the criteria for the relevant application.

OMARA CPD for Registered Migration Agents
The Basic Level is suitable for RMAs new to the area of employer sponsored visas.
This professional development activity has been designed to meet the CPD needs of Registered Migration Agents (RMAs). RMAs will be awarded OMARA CPD points for full attendance of all Live Workshops. All Workshops are Category A.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Lawyers
The Basic Level is suitable for lawyers new to the area of employer sponsored visas.
This professional development activity has been designed to meet the CPD needs of lawyers. If this session does meet your CPD needs according to the Uniform CPD (Solicitors) Rules 2015 available here you may claim 1 CPD unit for each hour of attendence (Breaks not included). This workshop falls within the Substantive Law CPD field.

*CPD Recordings for Lawyers:
The Video recordings have been designed to meet the CPD needs of lawyers. If the session does meet your CPD needs according to the Uniform CPD (Solicitors) Rules 2015 available here, you may claim 1 CPD unit for each hour of viewing (breaks not included). These recordings are considered Private Study units of an audio/visual material.
Each workshop and information session video replay includes a set of presentation slides and relevant case studies (if applicable). Workbooks are not included in the pricing and are available for purchase separately here.
Lawyers are advised to check their relevant State/Territory legal regulator on the limit of CPD units available to be claimed as Private Study units. This workshop falls within the Substantive Law CPD field.
*Recordings for Non-Lawyer RMAs:
Non-lawyer RMAs are unable to claim OMARA CPD points for pre-recorded CPD recordings or video replays of a workshop or information session. If you need OMARA CPD points, Enriched Migration Training offers a range of CPD topics relevant to your migration agency practice for OMARA Re-registration purposes. CPD workshops (Face-to-Face or online webinars) are offered “live” to meet the OMARA CPD requirements for RMAs and Lawyers.
