GENERAL SKILLED MIGRATION INTENSIVE WORKSHOP

The General Skilled Migration Intensive Workshop (485,189,190,491 and 191) is a 3 point CPD workshop that covers all basic material on all present General Skilled Migration (GSM) Subclasses including 189, 190, 485, 476, 491 and 191. The workshop will also cover new regional skilled visas subclasses 491 and 191 introduced in November 2019 and the new changes relating to subclass 485 from 1 July 2024. The workshop also provides a detailed discussion and analysis of case studies and recent case law. TOPICS COVERED:
- Updated current legislative and policy foundations for all subclass 189, 190, 485, 476, 491 and 191 requirements
- Valid Application requirements for each GSM subclass
- SkillSelect and EOI for the applicable subclasses
- State and Territory Nomination for the applicable subclasses
- Applicable Skilled Occupation Lists (MLTSSL/STSOL), State and Territory Occupation Lists
- Subclass 189 Points Tested stream and HK Stream
- Skills Assessment requirements for the applicable subclasses
- Minimum English and Age Cap requirements for each GSM subclass
- GSM Points Test for the applicable subclasses
- Occupation limits and Application Caps
- Australian Study Requirement
- Subclass 485 Post Vocational Education Work and Post Higher Education Work Streams (including 1 July 2024 changes)
- Health and Character Requirements
- Adding Dependants
The Workshop is intended to provide Registered Migration Agents (RMA professionals) and Lawyers with a solid foundation for all GSM subclasses within the General Skilled Migration framework and equip Agents and Immigration Lawyers with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the legal criteria and advise clients confidently on any GSM matters.
The Workshop will also discuss anticipated changes to regional skilled visas. Workshops will consist of discussion and case study analysis. There is no assessment component but participants will be given an opportunity to attempt simulated case studies based on real-life scenarios. Feedback will be provided during the session.
Participation is limited to 30 places.
For Registered Migration Agents (RMA): Attendees must remain in attendance for the duration of the Workshop in order to be eligible for the award of their 3 CPD points for OMARA.
For Lawyers: This professional development activity has been designed to meet the CPD needs of lawyers. If this session does meet your CPD needs according to the Uniform CPD (Solicitors) Rules 2015 available here you may claim 1 CPD unit for each hour of attendence (Breaks not included). This workshop falls within the Substantive Law CPD field.

The How to Prepare General Skilled Visas (485,189,190,491 & 191) is a 3 point CPD workshop that covers all basic material on all present General Skilled Migration (GSM) Subclasses including 189, 190, 485, 476, 491 and 191. The workshop will also cover new regional skilled visas subclasses 491 and 191 introduced in November 2019 and the new changes relating to subclass 485 from 1 July 2024. These sessions are designed for newly registered RMAs and lawyers wanting to gain a basic understanding of the foundational requirements to meet the criteria for the relevant application.
OMARA CPD for Registered Migration Agents
The Basic Level is suitable for RMAs new to the area of General Skilled Visas.
This professional development activity has been designed to meet the CPD needs of Registered Migration Agents (RMAs). RMAs will be awarded OMARA CPD points for full attendance of all Live Workshops. All Workshops are Category A.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Lawyers
The Basic Level is suitable for lawyers new to the area of General Skilled Visas.

The General Skilled Visas (485,189,190,491 & 191) – Complex cases is a 3 point CPD workshop that covers complex case scenarios relating to General Skilled Migration (GSM) Subclasses including 189, 190, 485, 476, 491 and 191. The workshop will also cover new regional skilled visas subclasses 491 and 191 and the new changes relating to subclass 485 from 1 July 2024. These sessions are designed for experienced RMAs and lawyers wanting to expand their understanding and knowledge and be able to apply it to complex matters. These sessions will also provide practical insight and explore relevant case scenarios.
OMARA CPD for Registered Migration Agents
The Advanced level is suitable for RMAs with at least 3 years of experience handling General Skilled visas.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Lawyers
The Advanced level is suitable for Lawyers with at least 3 years of experience handling General Skilled visas.

*CPD Recordings for Lawyers:
The Video recordings have been designed to meet the CPD needs of lawyers. If the session does meet your CPD needs according to the Uniform CPD (Solicitors) Rules 2015 available here, you may claim 1 CPD unit for each hour of viewing (breaks not included). These recordings are considered Private Study units of an audio/visual material.
Each workshop and information session video replay includes a set of presentation slides and relevant case studies (if applicable). Workbooks are not included in the pricing and are available for purchase separately here. Lawyers are advised to check their relevant State/Territory legal regulator on the limit of CPD units available to be claimed as Private Study units. This workshop falls within the Substantive Law CPD field.
*Recordings for Non-Lawyer RMAs:
Non-lawyer RMAs are unable to claim OMARA CPD points for pre-recorded CPD recordings or video replays of a workshop or information session. If you need OMARA CPD points, Enriched Migration Training offers a range of CPD topics relevant to your migration agency practice for OMARA Re-registration purposes. CPD workshops (Face-to-Face or online webinars) are offered “live” to meet the OMARA CPD requirements for RMAs and Lawyers.

While these workbooks are designed as an educational resource, they are subject to constant revisions and are not intended to be relied on indefinitely. For continued learning and reinforcement of knowledge and skills, there is no substitute for the regular attendance of CPD activities.
